Women on the march in Madhya Pradesh

Apart from education, industrial other sectors, women are also making their mark as cultivators in Madhya Pradesh. It may be mentioned that at the behest of Chief Minister Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh Women in Agriculture (MAPWA) Project is being effectively implemented in the state. About 60 to 70 percent works in the agriculture sector are done by rural women while they indirectly participate in other works. The State Government has launched a new project since the year 2007-08 with a view to giving technical shape to women's participation in agriculture and ensuring quality in the works being undertaken by women. The project covers technical training to women farmers, inter-district tours, village-level training, training for forming self-help groups, etc, Reports SMS News & Features.

    A sum of Rs. 98 lakh 32 thousand was utilised against the target of Rs. one crore during the year 2009-10 under the project. During the period, 629 sessions of technical training, 1880 motivational tours, 1852 sessions for training in forming self-help groups, 99 inter-district tours, 309 sessions of special training and 49 human resource development-related programmes were held.

    During the year 2010-11, a sum of Rs. 94 lakh 82 thousand was utilised against the target of Rs. one crore. In all, 596 sessions of technical training, 1773 motivational tours, and 1784 sessions for training in forming self-help groups, 92 inter-district tours, 306 sessions of special training and 48 human resource development-related programmes were held during the period.

    By October 31, 2011 during the year 2011-12 a sum of Rs. 38 lakh 94 thousand has been utilised against the target of Rs. 44 lakh while 325 sessions of technical training, 745 motivational tours, 248 sessions of training in forming self-help groups, two sessions for training in human resource development, 78 sessions of special training and 28 inter-district tours of women farmers have been organised during the period.

Before Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan, no other Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh had done so much for the upliftment and welfare of girls and women. Due to these efforts, women are marching ahead in every sphere of life in the state nowadays. The Latest in the series is Beti Bachao Abhiyan, which has been launched by the Chief Minister for improving falling sex ratio in Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, he had launched Ladli Laxmi Yojna. The Ladli Laxmi Yojna launched by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Raisen in 2007, has given the chance to girls to become 'lakhpati' (possessing over Rs. one lakh) since their birth. It is the result of constant monitoring and implementation of this scheme that so far nine lakh 11 thousand 728 girls have become Ladli Laxmis in the state.

Maximum one lakh 95 thousand 40 girls have been benefited under Ladli Laxmi Yojna in Jabalpur division of Madhya Pradesh followed by Indore division (one lakh 41 thousand 398 girls) and Ujjain division (one lakh 441 girls).

Among other divisions, 94 thousand 943 girls have been benefited in Bhopal, 70 thousand 866 in Gwalior, 63 thousand 269 in Rewa, 48 thousand 592 in Narmadapuram and 48 thousand 397 girls have been benefited in Chambal division.
