Thanks to constant efforts made
by Madhya Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan,
the people in Madhya Pradesh are growing IT savvy and are saving time and
energy by increasingly using the online facilities. The ever swelling number of
transactions through cyber treasury testifies this. People’s response was
lukewarm when this facility was introduced in year 2007. That year, taxes
amounting to a negligible Rs. 15 crore were deposited through cyber treasury
and only 24 thousand 477 transactions made, reports SMS News & Features.
Gradually, people started to
comprehend advantages of this facility. The number of transactions and quantum
of amount deposited also rose by the year. Rs. 7,614 crore was deposited in the
government exchequer and over 10 lakh transactions were made through cyber
treasury in the year 2011-12.
For paying taxes sitting
ensconced at your home through cyber treasury, log in to the website www.mptreasury.org
of the Finance Department. For the purpose of transport-related taxes, click on
‘transport’. Go to the website and insert your details. After inserting the
login and password provided for e-banking, the transaction will be approved. Following
this, the amount will be debited from your bank account and you will get CIN
Number, the print of which can be taken by you. After depositing money thus,
you can solicit enquiry about the challan with the help of this CIN number
anytime. This entire process takes hardly five minutes.
At present, only commercial taxes
and transport related taxes are deposited through cyber treasury. At present
only those people avail this facility who have accounts in the State Bank of India. Now,
negotiations with the Reserve Bank of India are in an advance stage and
six more banks are going to be linked with this shortly. Efforts are also afoot
to ensure payment of taxes of some other departments through cyber treasury.
The number of transactions
through cyber treasury has been increasing year by year. Only Rs. 15 crore was
deposited through 24 thousand 477 transactions in the year 2007-08. The process
gathered momentum from the next year itself. As a result, Rs. 366 crore was
deposited through 4 lakh 29 thousand transactions in 2008-09 followed by Rs.
651 crore through 6 lakh 39 thousand 915 transactions in 2009-10, Rs. 3,303
crore through 8 lakh 59 thousand 809 transactions in 2010-11 and Rs. 7,614
crore were deposited through 10 lakh 12 thousand 36 transactions in the year
2011-12. Thus, this increase is 500 times more than the year 2007-08.
Cyber treasury has made the
process of depositing taxes beyond imagination. You are no longer required to
stand in long queues for depositing taxes. The risks involved in carrying cash
are also avoided. The beauty of the system is that taxes can be deposited
through cyber treasury anytime during the day or night and even on holidays.
Earlier, businessmen used to send their employees to deposit taxes who used to
do at their convenience thereby causing inordinate delays.
