Standard of education in Madhya Pradesh has definitely gone up, especially during the regime of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. During earlier regimes, no one could have thought even in his wildest dreams a school in the state capital, that too a government school, will tie up with a British School for an online common study of various subjects by the students of two schools situation thousands of miles away from each other. However, the present State Government has made it possible, reports SMS News & Features.

Students of Government Subhash School for Excellence at Shivaji Nagar, Bhopal and England’s famous Ormiston Park Academy are working on a novel two-year Project Connecting Classroom.
The project is being run for the last one session with the cooperation of British Council. Under the project, research is being done by students of both the institutions on seven subjects including Madhya Pradesh’s lifeline Narmada River and London’s Thames River.
The students are sharing their works through internet, videoconferencing and parcels. It may be mentioned that International School Award will be conferred on these students on successful completion of this project.
The subject matters of the student are informative and interesting. They include study of rivers, environment, knowing each other, natural and man-made tragedies, tribes of SAARC nations and London Olympics 2012. Under the study of rivers, research is being made on Madhya Pradesh’s lifeline Narmada River, Ganga, Brahmputra as well as Amazon, Nile and Tames.
Researches on pollution, carbon emission, ozone depletion, environmental conservation etc have been included in study of environment. Studies are being made on the education, societies, cultures, rituals, folk music, folklore etc of both the countries under the subject “knowing each other”. Under the subject of festivals, studies and researches are being made on the festivals of both the countries. Research and studies under the subject “Natural and man-made tragedies”, include earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, drought, Bhopal gas tragedy, Chernobyl (Russia) tragedy and nuclear tragedies of Fukushima, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Under the subject “tribes of India and SAARC countries, research and studies are being made on tribes of these countries, their cultures, lifestyles etc. Under the subject “Olympics 2012”, students of both the schools are studying history of Olympics, introduction of various sports and when and which games were included in it.
Under the project, four principals and educationists of England visited various schools in Bhopal, tourist destinations Sanchi, Udaigiri, Bhimbethka, Bhojpur and Islam Nagar and Manav Sangrahalaya, Bharat Bhavan etc at Bhopal from January 29 to February 4.
Indeed, it is unique feat by the State Government’s education department. No doubt, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s dreams to develop Madhya Pradesh a golden state in all respects are being realised one by one.
