BJP government led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is undertaking excellent works. This fact has been accepted time and again the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre. But due to some ulterior motives, State Congress leaders have resorted to levelling baseless charges against Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mr Chouhan has rightly rebutted these charges recently, reports SMS News & Features.

Mr Chouhan on Thursday accused the Congress leadership of making ‘baseless allegations’ against the state’s BJP government. “Criticism should be based on facts and figures and not made just for the sake of politics,” Chouhan told reporters at the party office. He was responding to allegations made by Congress leaders on various issues against the BJP government like the appointment of Lokayukta.

On the statements of Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, Chouhan said he just says anything about anyone, due to which his statements were being taken “lightly” by the people. Asked about the role of late senior Congress leader Jamuna Devi in the appointment of Lokayukta in the state and allegations levelled by Congress on the issue that her consent for the appointment of Lokayukta was taken when she was critically ill, Chouhan said she was a seasoned politician, MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of the state.

Whatever is being said about her now is “derogatory” not to the leader of her stature but also to the constitutional bodies like Lokayukta, Chouhan said, adding, the Lokayukta was appointed in the state nearly one year before her death.

Congress has alleged the BJP government had obtained her consent for the appointment of retired Supreme Court Justice, PP Naolekar, as Lokayukta (in her capacity as the Leader of the Opposition) when she was hospitalised and even her signatures on the concerned papers in this regard were “fake”. Chouhan said though the Congress leaders in the state are criticising the BJP government over alleged lack of development, as per the central government figures, Madhya Pradesh is achieving a growth of nine per cent against the seven per cent target in the five-year plans. It will be more than 10 per cent by the end of the current plan, he said.

The state Congress leaders should not resort to such dirty politics and join hands with the State Government in its efforts to make Madhya Pradesh a golden state. They must realise that people will not vote for them only on the basis of false propaganda and levelling charges against a legitimate and honest government. The opposition leaders should look into their own hearts before criticising people and farmer-friendly government of Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
